June 6 through 16, 2019

Come with us to the Sacred Valley of Peru and explore the great beauty and mysteries of the Andes. If your heart has felt the call, then now is the time, and this is the group to guide you soulfully through this sacred and majestic place. More than a tour, this is an experience with insights from excellent local guides and our tour leader Dr. Gay Wolff.

Join our intimate group as we not only see the sites, but also experience them, physically and mythically. We will have evening talks about the myths and mysteries from which these sacred sites have risen, including hearing from Q'ero shamans who will share some of their mystical perspectives.

Journey Overview:

Our journey begins with your arrival in Cusco, the heart of the Sacred Valley, and from there we will transport you to our primary residence in the Sacred Valley, a first class hotel in the quaint setting of a converted monastery. We will ride to different archeological and cultural locations each day, and return to our comfortable home in the evenings. Our tour will include sacred sites of Moray,  Ollantaytambo, Tipon, Pisac and Unu Urco, as well as some cultural sites, such as the Chincheros weaving factory.

We will go to Machu Picchu for an intimate tour of this magnificent site, arriving predawn at the temple complex for a sunrise view of the temple complex and Andean landscape. Our local guide will show us the key features of the temple complex, and then, after the structured touring, you will have time in the afternoon to investigate the site even more on your own or go back to town to shop or rest.

Our final move will take us back to Cusco, where we will stay in another great hotel near the Plaza de Armas at the center of Old Town. From here we will explore the local temples and sites surrounding Cusco. We will see Sacsayhuaman and nearby sacred sites, as well as PucaPucara and Tambomachay.  We will return to Cuzco by way of a remote section of the Inca trail where we can explore the Temple of the Heart and the historic art district of Cuzco. This tour balances talks and structured touring with time for your personal explorations

Myth & Mystery: What makes this tour special

Once here, you will realize it is not enough to just see the sites. You'll want to understand more about the symbolism and mysticism
at the heart of these awe-inspiring sacred sites in the majestic Andes. As a mythologist and long-time student of Peruvian shamanism, Gay will prepare the group for what you will be seeing each day. She will give evening talks to explain some of the key concepts in Andean mysticism and symbolism, as well as highlight certain features of the sacred sites we will visit. Our local tour guides will also provide us with additional insight to the specific history and symbolism of the sites. It is our goal to provide a meaningful experience that will stay with you long after you leave!  Click Here For PDF Flyer

Two shamans conducting Despacho ceremony.

Local Q'ero Shamans will join our group for a portion of the time and guide us in beautiful Q'ero ceremonies at sacred sites. Andean legend says the Q'ero were shaman priests of the Inca empire and migrated into the extreme highlands of the mountain, Ausangate, to escape Spanish domination. They returned to the greater world mid-twentieth century, and though they were not spared the modern abuses of the indigenous people, their mountain and shamanic culture have remained virtually unchanged since the time of the conquistadors. The Q'ero are a loving people and our shamans are dedicated to sharing their view of the world with Westerners, like us.
